Narrow thinking

I am very excited today – at this moment my boyfriend is ripping apart the hallway in our flat. We have already torn up the carpets and the ugly marble tiles in the entrance, now he is demolishing the fitted cupboards and rotten woodwork…

It needs some electrics and (quite a lot of) damp work doing, then it will be on to the exciting bit – decorating! The hallway is dark and narrow, and whilst I can’t do anything about it’s proportions, I can try to make it a light and inviting space.

Here are some inspiration shots that will keep me going through the hard work and mess in the coming few weeks…

I have briefed our electrician to install three light fittings in the hallway ceiling, like in this Copenhagen Apartment owned by style journalist Cathy Strongman. The lights are E27 Socket Suspension LightsSee more images of the apartment here.

I like the bold stripes in this runner, and how it seems to draw you into the space. Image and flooring from Alternative Flooring.
