Our compact kitchen is now a much nicer room to spend time cooking in. The makeover is finished, and Stuart did it all himself (apart from the gas work) in two weeks – he’s getting very good at fitting Ikea kitchens! We needed the kitchen to be finished quite quickly and to a budget. So things such as electric sockets were left where they were, and we kept the appliance layout similar too. Experience has taught me it’s things like changing layouts and paying for extra trades which can really add to the costs. We did have to pay to have a new boiler fitted as our old one was on its last legs.
I’m really pleased with the finished result – it’s so nice to have a kitchen which looks clean! And the space is a lot more usable now – everything is organised in the cupboards and there’s more space when cooking. Our little flat is now almost done – it’s only taken 2 and a half years!
Here’s the before pic… (I can’t decide if I hated the blue units or the flooring more)
And now…
