Gorgeous midcentury house for sale in Sweden

This 1960s architect-designed modernist property in Trollasen, Sweden, is so amazing I had to share it. It's for sale via fastighetsbyran. Built in 1961, it's retained some lovely details and has been sympathetically updated where needed. All images courtesy of http://www.fastighetsbyran.se/

Midcentury inspired lighting on the high street

So this is the object of my desire today - George Nelson's Saucer hanging lamp. It's a design classic, and is part of the permanent collection at MOMA, but *sigh* I can't afford it. Also I'd need two to hang in our lounge so I definitely can't stretch to that right now! So I'm on the hunt for… Continue reading Midcentury inspired lighting on the high street

Our before and after kitchen makeover

Our compact kitchen is now a much nicer room to spend time cooking in. The makeover is finished, and Stuart did it all himself (apart from the gas work) in two weeks - he's getting very good at fitting Ikea kitchens! We needed the kitchen to be finished quite quickly and to a budget. So things… Continue reading Our before and after kitchen makeover

Nesting

I am a bit late in sharing this news with you all, but my husband and I are expecting our first baby! Baby Robinson is due early September. We have chosen not to find out if baby R is a boy or girl - although most bets are on boy at the moment. We're really excited,… Continue reading Nesting

Ikea PS 2014 collection

I'm back from a lovely week in Madeira, and rather than letting the post holiday blues get to me, I'm thinking how we can update our flat with new projects, paint and products. The new Ikea PS collection for 2014 has some really nice items, with bold colours and quirky design features. Here are my top… Continue reading Ikea PS 2014 collection

Time to escape

We're going on holiday this weekend to Madeira, for a week of relaxation.  We chose Madeira because it looks peaceful, which is exactly what we want for a week. We're staying in a lovely hotel overlooking the sea. I can't wait! If I was to book another holiday anytime soon though, I'd like to stay… Continue reading Time to escape

Happy Friday!

Wow this week has been a manic one, I'm looking forward to taking it easy this weekend hanging out in Crystal Palace, looking around vintage shops and eating nice food. There's a whole Friday to get through before that though, so here's a cool and quirky house to stare at for 10 minutes and make… Continue reading Happy Friday!

1960’s house envy

Wow what a beautiful house. It's for sale for the first time since it was built in 1967, and the owners have carefully maintained it's original details. Designed by the renowned architect Peter Aldington, the four-bedroom property was given a rare Grade II listing by English Heritage in recognition of its outstanding design. It's in South… Continue reading 1960’s house envy

Our before and after hallway makeover

Our one bed basement flat may be small in many ways, but we do have our own front door and a really good sized hallway (both plus points in small London flats). When we moved in it was a damp and dark space, with dodgy floorboards and dirty magnolia walls. It had one sad looking… Continue reading Our before and after hallway makeover

Thinking bigger

We've been living in our one bed Victorian basement flat in South East London for almost 2 years now. We've been renovating the interior on and off during this time, and it's unrecognisable from the sorry state it was in when we first moved in. But the space is still small. And we have A… Continue reading Thinking bigger
